iMIND Expressive Arts Therapy & Violence Prevention

iMIND provides trauma-informed therapy to students and their families.  iMIND utilizes expressive arts group therapy to strengthen the resiliency skills necessary for pro-social development.  Research shows that the use of the arts in treatment addresses many issues and is successful in treating anxiety, stress, PTSD, depression, low self-esteem, and grief.

In addition, iMIND includes numerous violence prevention strategies published in the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Preventing Youth Violence Technical Package, such as daily mentoring by life coaches, linkages to mental health therapy, afterschool programming, parenting workshops, and reducing exposure to community-level risks.
